A first walk along the Seine

Start at Pont Neuf, keep the river on your left, and stop when the light changes.

Pont Neuf is a good place to begin because the city opens in both directions.

Keep the water on your left and walk toward the islands. The stalls of the bouquinistes make a low wall between the pavement and the current. Cross when you want a different facade, not because a list told you to.

The walk is short enough for a morning and long enough to miss lunch if you keep going.
